Semester Project Heat Pump Integration in Industrial Processes - II

This semester project follows a previous project at LENI-EPFL [10] and aims at nding the best optimization approach in terms of Heat Pump integration in industrial processes. The MultiObjectiveOptimization method chosen seeks the minimum of both operating and investment costs related to HP purchase. Di erent optimization approaches are tested in order to nd the best solution in terms of feasibility and applicability of the results. This report trace the various approaches, analyzing and discussing the results. The choice of the best approach is then justi ed according to di erent parameters. This latter has then been implemented in the form of an OSMOSE R © model able to nd the optimal set of integration solutions among a range of heat pumps equipped with di erent types of compressors, using di erent refrigerant uids. The resulting HP Data Base is then tested in a process belonging to food industry.
